My story ran away with me too 🤣 25k turned into 60k. I'd call it a novel too. If it was full epic fantasy it might be more like a novella.

Now I'm tempted to double it up, especially since I had an epic idea for a prequel, a sequel, a short story in between, and a trilogy in the same world but different characters yesterday during edits. This is horrible!!!

LMAO I feel you. Before I was even assigned this cover I had an idea of how to make it into a whole UF series. It seems for both of us, the words seem to have a mind of their own. I'm not complaining...that much.

Oh, I'm complaining! LOUDLY! To anyone who'd listen!!!!

But yea, let the words do their own thing, not like we can do anything more than guide them in a specific direction every now and then.

Per the rubrics of the major awards in science fiction, fantasy, and horror, a novel is indeed anything above 40,000 words, not 50,000--so you're safely in Short Novel terrain, imo. I think some stories are simply longer than expected sometimes! I'm looking forward to reading it, whatever size it ends up.

Also omg your word count dashboard is so cool. I 💚 data!

I'm going to try to keep it under 50 at least!!! But yeah, it's now a novel, not novella lol

And thank you! Purple is the theme for everything related to this book 💜
