Soultaming the Serpent
The last dragon died half a century ago and Jun Weaver still dreams of the rain that hasn’t fallen since. Her mundane life takes a turn when she encounters Aurel, who she suspects may be the one that holds the key to restoring balance and is destined to find the elusive serpent from the prophecy.
Joined by Casey, Jun’s closest friend and the village brewer, the three embark on a journey to unravel the prophecy's intricacies, figure out what the serpent's role truly is, and why the dragon has to die, not knowing they are being watched.
Follow our trio as Jun discovers a love of adventure, Casey’s devotion takes an unexpected turn, Aurel spills his secrets like dust in the sand, and the three of them discover the true power of their bond.
Meet the Characters
Jun Weaver. Jun is actually looking forward to her 60th birthday even if that means another year of being ridiculed for being single and having no family. All her life, Jun has wanted to do something but never had the motivation, so she spends her time weaving and increasing her collection of useless knick-knacks from travelling merchants.
Aurel. The suspected Chosen One, Aurel has the appearance of the famed northerners with pale silver hair, unnaturally purple eyes, and even paler skin that burns too quickly. He is easily offended and even more easily won over, with a petulant personality that leaves a lot to be desired. If only he wasn't so pretty.
Casey Brewer. Casey is the village brewer and owner of the only tavern, making him the richest one in the village. If only that meant something. He is known to fall in love easily and is a romantic at heart. Sadly, he is already twice widowed with four children and has had his eyes on Jun for the past decade or so with no reward.
And let’s not forget another character who is very important to the story: the dragon!

That is a very good question! Truthfully, I don’t know either! This was the name given to me as part of the Inkfort Press Publishing Derby, along with… you guessed it…
Soultaming the Serpent
The Publishing Derby is an annual event where authors are challenged to write a story, novella, or novel within two months, based on an assigned pre-made cover, and then we have another two months to edit, market, and sell it!
This is my first time joining the Derby and it’s so much fun already! :D
